Where Art Finds Its Home

How to Create and Use QR Codes for Your Artworks

At Vernissaria, we believe that every piece of art deserves a voice beyond the frame. With one click, you can generate a unique QR code for each artwork on your website — linking the real world with the digital one.

This guide walks you through the full process — from installation to insight. No technical skills needed, just your art and your vision.

1: Install the Vernissaria QR WordPress Plugin

Install the free “Vernissaria QR” plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.

  • Search for “Vernissaria QR”
  • Click Install → then Activate
  • Go to your WordPress dashboard → Plugins → Add New

2: Configure Your Post Types

Enable QR codes for the content types you use.

  • Go to Settings → Vernissaria QR
  • Choose which post types should support QR codes (e.g., “Artwork”, “Post”, “Project”)
  • Deactivate/Activate Dashboard Widgets
  • Save changes

3: Add or Update Your Artwork

Whether you’re creating a new post or already have artworks published on your site, Vernissaria makes it easy to generate QR codes.

Add: If you’re adding a new artwork:

  • Go to Posts or your custom post type (e.g. “Artwork”)
  • Click Add New
  • Enter your title, description, year, and any other details
  • Click Publish
→ A QR code will be automatically generated and attached to this post.

Update: If your artwork is already published:

  • Go to the artwork’s page in your WordPress dashboard
  • Click Edit, then simply click “Update” without changing anything
→ The plugin will generate and attach a QR code immediately.

4: Print the QR Codes

Printing your QR codes is fast and convenient.

  • Go to Settings → Vernissaria QR → Print QR Codes
  • Choose your preferred:
    • QR code size (e.g. small, medium, large)
    • Paper size (e.g. A4, Letter)

Click Generate PDF, and a file containing all your QR codes will be created automatically.

The PDF will be saved in your WordPress Media Library, ready to download, print, and use.

Each QR code in the file includes its associated artwork title and can be printed on standard paper or labels — perfect for exhibitions or studio displays.

5: Attach QR Code to the Physical Artwork

Affix the printed QR code on the wall, artwork label, or frame.

  • Make sure it’s easily scannable
  • Use adhesive backing or display card holders

This allows gallery visitors to scan and open the artwork’s digital page instantly.

6: Track Your QR Statistics

See who’s engaging with your art.

  • Go to your WordPress dashboard → Vernissaria → QR Codes / QR Codes Visitors (Last 30 days) Statistics
  • View:
    • Total scans
    • Unique visitors
    • Timeline of activity
  • See which artworks get the most attention

Each QR code in the file includes its associated artwork title and can be printed on standard paper or labels — perfect for exhibitions or studio displays.
